It doesn't matter how many funny words in Spanish have emerged, as their use is so widespread that they are already part of the everyday vocabulary of the population. Some of these terms were frequently used in the past, although they are heard less and less today; while others are of recent creation, a result of the modern times we live in. We have compiled both in the following lists.

25 funny Spanish words accepted by the RAE

These funny and curious words can be found if we open the dictionary. However, not all of them continue to be used.

1. Badajo

It refers to the piece that hangs inside a bell and is the one that strikes to make it sound.

"The clapper is sounded against the bells of the hermitage because it is tied to a rope that the priest wields to alert the town."

With this curious name, those real estate promoters who coerce the occupants of a property who pay the least rent to push them to leave the home and, in this way, speculate with them are called.

2. Bocachancla
Although not included in the dictionary, it is a term to designate that person who talks about everything without having any idea about anything and often makes mistakes. It can also refer to someone who talks more than is discreetly advisable.

Someone who has very thin arms and a frail appearance.

Male haircut, mistakenly called 'modern,' which consists of shaving the sides and back of the head while letting the hair grow on the top. It can be styled in a quiff to the sides or spiked upwards, creating an image similar to those objects depending on the shape given to the hair.

"Nowadays, most young people have the same broom hair and rolled-up pants as if they came from walking on the beach."

18. Pelopidgeotto
There is a variant of these male hairstyles, which gets its name from the resemblance to the slicked-back mane of the famous winged Pokémon.

19. Perroflauta
It is said of a person with an unkempt appearance, not very given to personal hygiene, with supposedly revolutionary and anti-system ideas. The archetypal image is accompanied by dreadlocks, earrings, and piercings; although they will never say no to a good iPhone. Synonym of 'hippie.'

20. Patacanario, pataflamenco or patajilguero
Among the funny Spanish words coined in Internet language, this can be heard, referring to men with an excessively developed upper body, the result of hours of weightlifting, in contrast to notably thinner and disproportionate legs.

"At the gym I go to, there are only flamingo legs who train chest and arms and forget they have legs."

21. Robaescenas
A person who likes to be the center of attention in conversations.

"Natalia is a scene-stealer who likes being the protagonist too much."
